BABY NEWS! A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Dave & Gemma!
Dave & Gemma welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Jack O'Brien into their family, and from the whole Active Physiotherapy team we are so thrilled for them, and wish them health and happiness.
Supporting our Regional Athletes is an honour, we are grateful for this opportunity to do what we love.
Rhiannon, Curtis, Amy and Paul attended the Hunter Games as Physiotherapists for the Southern Sports Academy (SSA). The games showcased the state’s most talented emerging athletes across seven sports including basketball, golf, hockey, netball, softball, AFL and triathlon. With 100 SSA athletes in attendance it is essential that we are there to treat any injuries as soon as possible.
To show how much we appreciate all the mothers in our lives we have a giveaway that anyone can enter. Jump on to our Facebook or Instagram page to enter.
We know how important the role is of any support team in a health business.
Our support team works hard to ensure your experience and health journey with Active Physiotherapy is positive, smooth and happy.
Who inspires you?
My Nanny. She brought together such a big wonderful family that I’m proud to be a part of.
What do you do to keep active, healthy & happy?
I have 3 dogs who like to keep me active on many walks. I have recently also started running which I am really enjoying.
What is the best advice you have been given?
To spend time with the ones you love and to take time for yourself
What is the best advice you have been given?
Do what you love - life is short, live it while you have it.
What part of your job do you enjoy the most?
Building relationships and connecting with our patients, I think sometimes all it can take is a smile and a conversation to make someone’s day. I love getting to know everyone and doing my best to ensure everyone has the best experience they can with us.
How would your friends describe you?
Bubbly, friendly, loyal and positive.
In April we raised money for BrAshA-T. We were thrilled to donate money to them in support of their quest to raise awareness of this disease and to show support for a local family dealing with this disease.
In May we have chosen to support autologous stem cell transplantation at St Vincent's hospital in honour of World Multiple Sclerosis Day on May 30 and a special patient of ours. World MS Day focuses on improving the quality of life for those suffering from MS and helps teach people more about the disease. We are honoured and privileged to help.
Coming to work each day knowing that you not only help those who come for treatment, but you help to donate to worthy causes together with your patient makes your day brighter.
What is the Active Giving Project?
We have always been a team that likes to give back and help others. Each month we change what charity, event or fundraiser we support and for every new patient that attends our practice that month, we donate an amount of money. These donations are a way to say thank you to them for being a patient at Active and we are thrilled to be working with them, to make not only a difference in their lives, but others at the same time. Together we can make a difference.
Active Physiotherapy's own Exercise Physiologist Jake Dargan and Physiotherapist Andrew Preston urge people to ease themselves back into sport.
New Tuesday Morning Exercise Group!
Exercise, or any form of physical activity, can be beneficial in a wide variety of ways. Whether you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, cancer or heart problems, have an injury, live with a disability, are wanting to prevent a health condition or look after your well-being, or are simply looking to age actively.
Exercise and Sports Science Australia suggests that 60 minutes of physical activity per week could prevent up to 17% of incident cases of depression and something is always going to be better than nothing, with no one type of exercise shown to be better than another for improving your mental health.
Expressions of interest being taken now for our new 10.45-11.45am Tuesday morning session led by Jake, Exercise Physiologist.
