NDIS - What is early intervention and what is wanted from providers?
We were thrilled that our January giving project managed to raise a donation for the Kruzn for a Kure Foundation. People have asked us why we don’t post photos regarding the giving projects and it is because we want to make it about the causes not us. Generosity, the habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return.
In February we are raising money for Country Hope - Country Hope provides practical, emotional and financial assistance to families caring for a child with cancer of other life threatening illness.
What is the Active Giving Project?
We have always been a team that likes to give back and help others. Each month we change what charity, event or fundraiser we support and for every new patient that attends our practice that month, we donate an amount of money. These donations are a way to say thank you to them for being a patient at Active and we are thrilled to be working with them, to make not only a difference in their lives, but others at the same time. Together we can make a difference.
Dave and Paul are directors of Active Physiotherapy and work together to provide not only a patient focused service but an environment where clinicians and students can thrive in their chosen interests and knowledge.
Paul is a titled physiotherapist (APA Titled physiotherapists are highly qualified physiotherapists with expert knowledge and skills in their area of practice. They undergo a rigorous selection process to ensure that they achieve and maintain exceptional standards of clinical experience and knowledge) and Dave has added training in TMJ (jaw disorders), vestibular, vertigo and whiplash management.
They share their time between patient consultations, mentoring and business management. Between them they have 37 years physiotherapy experience, 7 daughters and one on the way. What will it be?
Active Physiotherapy is happy to be offering a new service to the Murrumbidgee, a 12 week pain treatment program!
Our physiotherapist Soph is working as a coach with Brain Changer, a 12 week pain treatment program delivered via telehealth. This is an evidence based, holistic program for helping those with persisting pain to develop tailored active self management strategies to reduce their pain and improve their function.

Active Physiotherapy are registered to provide services for the NDIS. This accreditation means we can provide services to Agency, Plan and Self managed clients. Early Intervention approved permits our practice to provide services to participants aged 0-7 (and all ages). With Tahnee going off on maternity leave, Eden Bradford has transitioned to Active Physiotherapy full-time and along with Caleb will continue to offer this service. Charlotte Lymbery has also commenced her services back in Tumut seeing paediatric services.
Software provider GoodHuman partnered with the Evolved Group to research what people value when purchasing disability supports. They interviewed 700 participants and their family members across the country. Here are the highlights:
The research identified the top 3 things that participants value in a provider:
‘Staff that are competent and trustworthy’ / ‘A reputation for delivering high-quality service’
‘Availability of services at a suitable time’
‘Help identifying the services I qualify for’
The research found that people who reported having a positive experience with a provider often attributed this to an exceptional support worker or service. They also preferred providers who helped them understand what services they can access through their plan.
People also value clear communications and responsiveness from their providers. This is why we have an NDIS Coordinator - Jaimee Smith who ensures this with her NDIS knowledge and ability to navigate the system. Feel free to contact Jaimee with any NDIS questions you may have.
