Did you know Active Health offers Intensive Physiotherapy?

Intensive therapy is a way of delivering a high dose of treatment over a short period of time. For example a child might attend 1-3 hours of therapy everyday for 1-3 weeks depending on the child's goals, age and endurance. It does not refer to any specific type of therapy or treatment. It refers simply to the way it is delivered i.e. high dose over a short period of time. The therapist will choose the most appropriate treatment techniques and strategies to help the client achieve their goals.

This style of therapy facilitates the process of neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the ability to develop neural pathways needed to perform a specific skill. For example professional athletes have to practice specific skills related to their sport thousands of times a day to refine the skill and develop efficiency. Part of this process is the development of efficient neural pathways and thus neuroplasticity. The same can be said for children learning new movement skills. Repetitive practice completed over a short period of time helps children to learn new skills faster and with more efficiency.

Our intensive physiotherapy programs are individualized and designed to achieve your goals. These programs can be physiotherapy specific or designed and implemented in conjunction with other members of your team for example occupational therapy or speech pathology.
