Healthy Ageing Month!
APA has identified the COVID-19 Catch 22 being endured by older Australians...
“Social isolation, visitation restrictions and infection control measures have had the detrimental effect of accelerating physical, mental and cognitive decline” in older Australians. The impact [is] already being seen among older people, with an almost doubling in the number of life-threatening falls and other injuries occurring in residential aged care facilities.
Year 12 Students!
We are thinking of the Year 12’s in our community during this difficult time with exams and Covid-19.
Their stress levels are higher than they would normally be, and they are also grieving what they thought their year 12 would entail socially.
If you can encourage them to exercise / meditate / study to find a balance that is helpful. Neck and arm problems are common during long term periods of study so be mindful of this, and if you need us we are here to help quickly to get them going again!

Current Physiotherapy Student Placement: Alesha Harmer!
Alesha Harmer is our 6th physiotherapy student for the year, having commenced at Active Physiotherapy late last month.
If you are interested in a reduced price consultation with full supervision from a senior physiotherapist please consider this option and support us to support them in their future chosen profession. Here is Alesha’s background journey to physiotherapy.
“I am a 4th year Physiotherapy student from CSU in Albury. After completing school I completed a Bachelor of Health and Rehabilitation Science before moving across to Physiotherapy. I have always been an active person. From a young age I have been heavily involved in the swimming community and most recently have taken up an interest in triathlons.
Over time my involvement in sport sparked my interest in health and physiotherapy. I am looking forward to being able to develop my musculoskeletal skills with the Active Physiotherapy team over the course of my placement." - Alesha
We are passionate about learning and being a teaching practice. We really enjoy giving back to our profession and understand the importance of sharing clinical knowledge and experience.
Another message from a recent past student:
“Thank you for an amazing 5 weeks. I would be lying if i didn't find my experience at Active Physiotherapy to be challenging. However looking back at it now, I am so grateful for it! It has definitely challenged my understanding and has made me a much better physio for it. I really admire the positive work culture and learning environment at Active, not just for myself, but for other clinicians as well as patients. I was also thoroughly impressed at how efficient and organised the practice was, something that I haven't encountered before as a student or as a patient. My time at Active will not be forgotten and again, thank you for providing me with this great learning experience.”
COVID-19 Message!
Sometimes the messages surrounding Covid-19 can get confusing. We understand that. To clarify some queries we have received regarding the 4m2 rule and social distancing, read more here.
Being an allied health practice, the rule is not applied in the course of general business for Active Physiotherapy BUT we do however encourage everyone to comply as best they can. Our therapists are wearing masks during consultations when they are unable to keep the recommended distance apart. If you would prefer to wait outside in your car please let our support team know (and what colour car you are in) and we will get you when it is time to come in and go straight into your consultation room.
Did you know we have washable masks for sale? Please enquire with our admin team if you are looking to purchase one. They are all made to the recommendations put out by NSW Health. Enquire now.
Sports finals time!
The shortened AFL, Netball, Rugby League, League Tag, Soccer and Rugby Union seasons are coming to a close with finals time in September.
We have seen higher than average injury rates and are working hard to get players back safely and effectively. We still have appointments available if you or your loved ones need guidance.
