Background

I’m Sophie, a passionate physiotherapist who relocated to Lockhart in the Riverina in 2024, eager to continue my journey in physiotherapy and fulfill my commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to rural areas. I’m driven by the desire to help individuals regain their mobility and quality of life.
Originally from the coastal village of Forster, I grew up with a love for the outdoors, travel, and sport. These interests led me to pursue a career in physiotherapy, where I could combine my passion for movement with my desire to help others. I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy Honours at the University of Newcastle in 2021, graduating with Distinction. During my studies, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a 12-month rural program in Port Macquarie, which deepened my commitment to addressing healthcare inequities in rural communities.
Following my studies, I worked at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, the region’s largest tertiary hospital, where I gained invaluable experience across a wide range of clinical areas. In this position, I worked in intensive care, cardiology, respiratory, neurology, rehabilitation, orthopaedic surgery, and with musculoskeletal injuries. This diverse experience has allowed me to develop a comprehensive approach to patient care, tailoring treatments to suit each individual's unique needs.
Having lived through my own sporting injuries, I truly understand the physical and emotional challenges of rehabilitation. This personal experience fuels my passion for supporting patients through their recovery journey, offering both professional expertise and empathetic care.
I am excited to be part of the Active Health community where I can make a lasting impact and help people of all ages live healthier, more active lives.
