BACKGROUND
Andrew returned home to Wagga Wagga in 2021, after spending 17 years away in Sydney and the Gold Coast, studying, learning and developing his craft in physiotherapy and business. Andrew has over 10 years experience and is extremely passionate about delivering optimal health care back to the Wagga community, a City that offered him so much lifestyle and sporting opportunities as he was growing up.
As a dedicated musculoskeletal physiotherapist, Andrew places a strong emphasis on finding the driver of a patient’s impairment, to ensure a complete recovery and prevent recurrence. He also strives to keep his clients exercising in one way or another, whilst they are recovering from their current injury.
His interest in physiotherapy began in 2004 when Andrew embarked on a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Business (with a Sport Management major). He chose to study at Griffith University on the Gold Coast to combine his love of the beach and an active outdoor lifestyle, with his goal to become a physiotherapist.
Upon completing his undergraduate degrees, Andrew made the move to Sydney. He excelled at Sydney University, where he was awarded his Masters of Physiotherapy (Distinction).
Before joining the team at Active Health, Andrew was a Director and managed an Allied health team in a busy Sydney clinic, based in Sydney’s CBD. Here, he was able to be mentored from industry leaders and developed an invaluable depth of understanding and knowledge in the physiotherapy field.
Andrew’s love for golf has resulted in achieving Level 2 certification with the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). Andrew is qualified to conduct a golf specific screen, which enables him to identify physical limitations which may be affecting a player’s game. These physical limitations result in certain swing characteristics that may cause injury or reduce someone’s power or performance. Andrew strongly believes that TPI will not only minimise injury and keep you playing for longer, but also increase your power and performance… Much more effective than buying a new driver!
His other passion, knees, developed after two ACL injuries playing AFL and soccer. Having gone through two ACL reconstructions and several other knee surgeries, Andrew is in a unique position to understand the physiological and psychological barriers involved in returning to sport after such lengthy lay-offs.
Andrew therefore prides himself in delivering an optimum treatment pathway that prioritises a timely, safe and effective return for patients to perform their chosen activities, so they’re not missing out on those things they love to do.
WHY DO YOU LOVE BEING A PHYSIOTHERAPIST?
Being able to make a big and long lasting difference to our patients lives.
