Community Education Sessions

Here at Active Physiotherapy we believe strongly in sharing knowledge to improve health, increased performance and reduce injury in the community.  

We are running 4 Free community education sessions over the next 6 weeks.  

1) Running Retraining workshop - Wed 8th February

Where: Xceler8 Fitness Centre Dobney Avenue. 

The evening will explain the process of Biomechanical running assessment followed by a practical example from one of Physiotherapists, David O’Brien. He will then discuss common technique errors which occur and how personalised retraining programmes can considerably decrease your risk of injury.

2) Injury Prevention Evening - Wed 22nd Feb - Venue TBC

What are common causes of injury? Is static stretching recommended before sport?  

Paul Heffernan and Michelle Byrne will explain evidence based practice for warm up and cool down for optimal performance.  

3) Sports Taping Workshop - Wed 8th March - Venue TBC

Practical workshop to discuss, demonstrate and practice a range of common sports taping techniques.  

4) Knee Injury Prevention in Netballers - Wed 22nd March - Venue TBC

Paul Heffernan is Nationally endorsed provider of Netball Australia's Knee Injury Prevention Program.  He will explain how to introduce this program at your club.  

The program aim is to reduce lower body injuries across all levels of netball, including serious knee injuries by up to 70%.
