Student Profile - Meet Kathleen McLaughlin
Active Physiotherapy are committed to the learning and development of the physiotherapy profession. Our current student Kathleen McLaughlin shares her experience so far.
Hi, my name is Kathleen McLaughlin and I am a current fourth year physiotherapy student from the Australian Catholic University (ACU) in Ballarat. I have been fortunate enough to be given the incredible opportunity to complete a 5-week private musculoskeletal placement at Active Physiotherapy.
I am a local girl who grew up in Wagga Wagga, and I attended Mater Dei Catholic College, graduating in 2015. After school, I completed my first two years of university at ACU in North Sydney and then transitioned down to Melbourne to complete my final two years of study in Victoria.
I have always been very passionate about being involved in sports and living out an active lifestyle, participating in an array of sports, such as; gymnastics, swimming, dancing and netball.
During the 5 weeks I have at Active Physiotherapy, I am excited to absorb as much information and knowledge that I can from all the experienced Physiotherapists around me. I have been given a wide variety of opportunities already to explore different avenues physiotherapy as a profession has to offer. From sitting in on prenatal exercise classes, hydrotherapy classes, paediatric session, chronic pain and musculoskeletal injury diagnosing and rehabilitation consults, these experiences are providing me with large amounts of opportunity to broaden my understanding and further develop my own therapist skills.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue to be challenged and to continue to expand on my learning with the support and guidance of the Active Physiotherapy team over the course of the remaining four weeks.
